I so loved this book that I actually read it twice. I read a lot of regency romance and many feel like I've already read it before, but not this book or the first book in the series, The Furies.

There is something different in Stephanie's writing style that makes her books stand out/5. Fates and Furies is a book so great that it amazes me someone managed to write the damn thing. The beauties and the furies was not one of Stead’s most successful books, it has to be said, and I had to dig a bit deeper in Trove to find reviews. Christina Stead Week (November) Well, it’s time to draw the winner of the book giveaway for the new Text Classics edition of The Beauties and Furies by Christina Stead.

As can be seen from the Opening Lines, and my review, this second novel by Christina Stead is great reading and I hope it sets the winner off on a wonderful journey of discovery to the rest of Stead’s oeuvre. A Dreamy Marriage Turns To Rage In 'Fates And Furies' In her newest novel, Lauren Groff uses a split narrative to tell the story of a long marriage.

Swelling with a contrapuntal symphony of passions, “Fates and Furies” is that daring novel that seems to reach too high — and then somehow, miraculously, exceeds its own ambitions. It didn’t take long for “Fates and Furies,” Lauren Groff’s third novel, to earn the title of ’s “book of the year.”Spiky and mesmerizing, and a favorite of President Obama’s.

I like a book that makes me think. But I have to admit I never really bonded with either character, and I do NOT like a book with no likable characters.

When I do not feel a genuine kinship with any character, it makes it difficult for me to become fully engrossed in the story.

For this reason, I’m giving Fates and Furies. Beautiful writing on marriage about two people I probably wouldn’t like too much IRL - and one or the more divisive, yet highly lauded reads of Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff | Book.

In the end, and from the beginning, Groff has pdf a novel of extraordinary and pdf complexity. A reader might quibble with the occasional word choice that feels forced, or the too convenient turn of a plot point here and there, but before a doubting eyebrow can be fully raised, Fates and Furies has you newly absorbed, admiring its next accomplishment.
